Next steps

As I move towards the final year of my PhD Roz and I are naturally asking the question of what happens next once the PhD has finished (or even what might happen as the PhD is finished off). Where might such study lead Roz and I?  There are two basic ideas we have at the moment (while being very open to God’s surprises in this area).

1.  Teaching at a bible college/seminary (location not important, UK would be ideal to be close to family, but further afield for the right opportunity is feasible)

• biblical studies (OT) main focus, but very willing to teach wider than this as able and as is necessary – involvement with the lives of students, encouragement, mentoring
• in a setting where Roz would be able to be involved – in welcoming students and their families into our home, and getting alongside students/wives
• Located near to a church where Roz and I can both be involved in all levels of congregational life
• Providing ability to live in a house in which we can practise hospitality, and especially open our home to those in need of refreshment in “ministry” (see Joshua’s Tree page)

Or:
2. Member of leadership team of a church with particular responsibility for teaching

• Regular preaching opportunity
• Teaching of groups and individuals
• Leading of services
• Potentially putting together programmes for education and discipleship of church members/leaders
• Opportunity for part or all of the role to be shared with Roz.
• Providing ability to live in a house in which we can practise hospitality, and especially open our home to those in need of refreshment in “ministry” (see Joshua’s Tree page)
