The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
the glory of the one and only Son: fully human, fully divine. The centre of the gospel.
Some words describing the one and only Son: These words are only a few of the words throughout the Bible that speaks of Jesus. Take time this year to sit with Jesus, to sit with these words and let the wonder and majesty and earthiness of who this man is deepen and grow in you this year.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live for ever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
..who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
by becoming obedient to death –
even death on a cross!
I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
