A reassuring prayer from the Heidleberg Confession (116) in a week when energy and time is spent simply on making it from one end of the day to the other. When times of uniterrupted Bible study and quiet are scarce. When two or three word prayers,’ Lord have mercy’ are uttered under breath in certain moments, this prayer steadies me and reminds me of seasons and assurance and of God who is present.
Living God, thank you that my prayers do not depend on spiritual frenzy or cracking heaven’s code. I need not rouse You or speak loud enough or long enough to get Your attention.Nevertheless, keep me passionate in prayer, knowing You listen, giving Your grace and Holy Spirit to those who pray contiunally and groan inwardly. Amen.
